Spiritual Enrichment

Purple Threads

Purple Threads is a women's bible study and prayer group. We meet the first and third Tuesdays of the month from September to November and January to March in room 108.

We will be continuing the second half of the video and book study series, "The Life and Ministry of the Messiah" by Ray VanderLaan. It is not necessary for you to have done the first half if you would like to join us in January, as each class is a separate lesson.

Follow Jesus' footsteps to discover the meaning of his parables in their political and geographical context. These sessions will help you better understand Jesus' life and how to model his teaching.

Faith Lessons The Rabbi: (Gamla) Encourages Christians to rise above the culture and model Jesus' teachings.

Language of Culture: (Sepphoris) Reveals why understanding the popular culture of Jesus' time is key to relating the Gospel's relevance.

Misguided Faith: (Belvoir) Champions the use of compassionate persuasion to conquer men's hearts.

Living Water: (En Gedi) Proclaims Jesus as the spiritual refreshment that will quench our thirst for eternity.

On March 16th we will present: Faith Lessons

The True Easter Story - The Promise Kept

Understand the Power of a Promise Kept

Easter evokes many images---the tomb, Mary Magdalene, Abraham. Abraham? Ray Vander Laan reveals the link between God's covenant with Abraham and Jesus' death, burial, resurrection, and glorification. This gripping DVD penetrates the traditions surrounding the resurrection, providing an ancient-times view of Easter. You'll gain a deeper appreciation for God's love and his provision for a Messiah.

Explore 2,000-year-old tombs-much like the one that held Jesus-and experience the vibrant history and culture of Israel. Teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan reveals the fascinating truths surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus in this video journey that will leave every Easter a deeper, more joyful time for your entire family.

Teaching leaders are Nancy Radenbaugh and Sue Shipley. If you have questions, please call Diana Carter, class coordinator, 248-666-2575. If you are a new member and wish to join us in January, please call so you may purchase a book for $8.00.

Purple Threads provides an opportunity for spiritual enrichment and book study. We are just one of the Ministry Opportunities for adults here at Central United Methodist Church.

New members are always welcome!
