Central United Methodist Church offers numerous opportunities for children and youth to participate in a variety of fine arts activities including vocal choir, hand bells, and sacred dance. It is our hope that these activities will enhance their spiritual life while bringing new meaning and spirituality to the worship experience. Children and youth are welcome to join any of the groups at any time during the year.
Central United Methodist Church has choir opportunities for children of all ages. Sara Hazen is director of the Youth Choir. This year the children and youth choirs will be performing a combined cantata during the Advent/Christmas season. All choirs will have the opportunity to sing with the Chancel Choir on a special on Palm Sunday.
You can read the children's choir newsletter, "The Overture" by clicking: The Overture - September 2011.

LITURGICAL DANCE
Praising God through movement has a tradition steeped in history. Opportunities to praise God with dance are available for two different age groups. No previous dance experience is necessary. Dance Choirs are open to both girls and boys. Sacred and contemporary choreography is set to music for participation in worship services approximately every six weeks.

The Alleluia Dance Choir
consists of children from 3rd through 6th grade. Children learn some basic dance techniques, movement to different rhythms and expressing themselves prayerfully through dance. Rehearsals currently take place on Thursdays from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
The Jubilate Dance Choir consists of youth from 7th
grade through 12th grade. Although the youth build on the basic dance techniques, rhythms and
prayerful expression learned in the Alleluia Dance Choir, no previous experience is necessary to join this group. Rehearsals will take place on Thursdays from 4:15 to 6:00 p.m. We realize some dancers will arrive late, some will need to leave early to attend bell choir and we are aware of these conflicts. We would appreciate all efforts to attend as much of the rehearsal as possible
BELL CHOIRS
Bell groups participate in worship approximately every six weeks. Rehearsals currently take place on Thursday evenings, with the Y.T.B.N. group occasionally rehearsing on Sunday afternoons as well. If you would like to join following the fall athletic/marching band season, please know that this is an option. Please let Sara know, so that she may plan accordingly. Both choirs are under the direction of Sara Hazen.
The Good News Ringers are comprised of youth in grades 4 through 8. This is an opportunity for them to learn some basics of music theory and note reading as they prepare anthems for worship services and have fun. No previous musical experience is necessary. Practice Thursdays at 5:15, lower level- room 15.
