Knit For Kids
Doesn't a nice warm sweater feel good when it's cold outside? Many children around the world would love to have a warm sweater and for some that might be their only outer clothing during cold weather. Would you like to help? Then the World Vision "Knit for Kids" sweater project is for you. Please visit the table in the hallway beyond the narthex for sample sweaters and patterns (knit and crochet) and get started. You can also go to www.knitforkids.org to download patterns and see pictures of children from around the world who have received these gifts of love.
Central Church has been participating in the sweater project since the fall of 2004. This is an ongoing mission project with no deadline, so just bring in your finished sweater, add your name to the list of "Central's Sweater Angels" and a shipment will be sent to World Vision once we have filled a box. Once World Vision receives the sweaters, they ship them to needy children in the United States and all over the world. Here in our country the sweaters are sent to children on native reservations, babies with AIDS, homeless children and those who lack clothing to attend school.
"These gifts of the heart are more than just a source of warmth, they are also a message of God's love and caring to His littlest ones."
